MUSIC : ST. LUCIA

I first heard St. Lucia last Summer, when they preformed live in Kansas City for a free outdoor concert. Their music was good from what I could tell, but between the crowd, high heat and yelling (so I couldn't fully hear the lyrics) I wasn't 100% sold. Shortly after we acquired their music. An then recently we found ourselves snatching their newest LP "Matter" too. An guess what!? We really do enjoy them and I hope you do too. Sadly the song "Physical" (one of my favs) doesn't have a music video, but its linked below as audio. Their ever so popular hit "Dancing on Glass" is pretty great too. Enjoy!

Loving the music of American singer an songwriter, Halsey. The video I'm sharing below is a bit peculiar, somewhat of sci-fi movie like preview, but needless her tunes are some of my new favorite. RIP DAVID BOWIE

It’s the end of an era when a name like Bowie comes to pass. I’m sure you’ve seen it thru all the media but what an amazing legend he was, and will continue to be. His music, acting, fashion sense, personality, an view on life were just a few things that were an inspiration to me. I recall the first time I was introduced to him was as a child as I watched the movie Labryrinth with some friends. I remember instantly thinking how awesome was this person! It wasn’t until a few years later I started listening to his music and truly appreciating his talents. He was a man of many hat and each decade he continued to impress people. I also love that it never seemed to bother him what others thought. What a great way to live your life. His alter ego Ziggy Stardust was an example of this, which I wanted to illustrated to pay tribute to such an idol. You will be missed David Bowie but never forgotten.

What about some new tunes?! An why not from one of my newer favorite artists BØRNS aka Garrett Borns. In October ’15 his debut album Dopamine was released which features some amazing songs. His acoustic solos are equally impressive, but don’t let me be a judge an have a listen for yourself. You can find most of his other music on his personal page (linked below) or over on YouTube. MUSIC : THE GRISWOLDS

So have you heard of the indie rock band The Griswolds. An yes that’s right, their name is after that fictional family from the Vacation series… but beyond this, their music is amazing. The band released their debut in 2012, and though I do enjoy their popular other singles I would have to say my favorite is “Beware the Dog”. The video, well, we'll hope you enjoy that too. Let's be honest, everyone has their quirks. An when it comes to music, I have a little issue with over listening to music. If you know me, you'd realize this, and if you rode in my car (an I apologize to all you friends who have had the honor to ride with me) you'd realize that I listen to the same music over and over. It's not cause I'm lazy and forget to change the cd, because I could surely change it, but it's because I get into a groove of listening to one artist an honestly really just enjoy their music. I'm sure a few of you who know will giggle over this (or eye roll). But a few months ago my boyfriend played a song by this band called Magic! an boy was it magical indeed (see what I did there, boy am I humorous). Their mashed up style of reggae pop rock instantly caught my attention and made me want to listen to more, so I got the album and have been enjoying it ever since. I hope you will enjoy them too… And if you're curious, I peeked at my iTunes today and see I have gladly listened to their album 31x (which does not include in the car, an on my phone) on my computer, haha! MUSIC : KSRA

So I hadn't heard of the Chicago based artist KSRA (aka - K Serra) till maybe a month or so ago on someone's IG feed. I instantly hunted my Soundcloud for more music by this singer, songwriter, producer. I feel that she's an up an coming artist, though not to many people have probably have even heard of her just yet, but her voice is beyond astounding! With killer vocals and a slight soul sound to her music she has a unique style all her own. Hope you enjoy her. Happy mid week!

MUSIC : ROYAL TEETH (LIVE IN KC TONIGHT!)

Firstly, do you live in Kansas City? You do!?! Well, if so, this band is playing tonight at the Czar Bar (along with Chappo) for 10 bucks, and I may be a wee bit excited to see both of them. I hadn't heard of Royal Teeth till recently when I saw the music video and just loved the sound of this band, and after I did a little search to see if they were on tour I got a bit more excited and I found they were coming to my town. I'm all about finding new bands to listen too, an open for all types of music... so is there a new band out there you love and care to share with me.
