SANDI DOODLES : FROZEN PRINCESS ELSA

So my girl (and boy too) has been on a "Frozen" kick! We saw the movie when it first came out, they loved it, reenact it all daily, and sing the songs over and over. We own the soundtrack, which has been in my car for weeks now and I'm pretty sure I have all the lyrics memorized. Because my daughters all time new favorite character is now Princess Elsa, the ice princess in the movie, or as she puts it "the one with the white hair", I thought I'd take a stab at my rendition of this now popular Disney gal. ARTIST : ERIK JONES

I always get a little more excited when I find an new artist I really like and then research a bit more info about them and learn we attended the same college. Though I do not personally know Erik Jones, because I graduated a bit before him, I'm happy to know he's another Ringling Alumni. I highly enjoy his bold color palettes and realistic female figurative subject matter. His work also has a very geometric feel to it, which has a great sense of appeal to me. MUSIC : ROYAL TEETH (LIVE IN KC TONIGHT!)

Firstly, do you live in Kansas City? You do!?! Well, if so, this band is playing tonight at the Czar Bar (along with Chappo) for 10 bucks, and I may be a wee bit excited to see both of them. I hadn't heard of Royal Teeth till recently when I saw the music video and just loved the sound of this band, and after I did a little search to see if they were on tour I got a bit more excited and I found they were coming to my town. I'm all about finding new bands to listen too, an open for all types of music... so is there a new band out there you love and care to share with me. WHERE'S THERE 5 : DEAD HORSE POINT, UTAH

Isn't that beautiful! This is Dead Horse Point, which is located in the Utah State park. It overlooks the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park. There are many stories of how this place received it's name but at one point in time there were said to be wild mustang that ran these cliffs. What a sight that would have been. Have you been here?

So I had doodled a Princess Bubblegum over here. But if you aren't too familiar with these characters in general, I recommend doing a google or YouTube search for Adventure Time and see what comes up. I am slowly going to doodle the other characters from the show in my own style, and this was the second illustration I did of Lemongrab. Though his popular phrase is "Unacceptable", I thought it would be sillier to play off the lemon pun some for his word bubble. That and I was giving this doodle away, so it seemed a bit more appropriate for the recipient. Enjoy!

VALENTINES WEEKEND

I hope you had a wonderful Valentines weekend. I know mine was perfectly relaxing which was much needed and appreciated, since weekends lately have been jammed packed and keeping us on the go go go. It was nice to stay in on Friday. We put on a record, cooked dinner (stuffed shells, one of my favs) together, enjoyed a couple drinks, made dessert, and then watched a zombie love movie (Warm Bodies, which mind you is a great movie) ... sounds romantic, right!? Well it was, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect first Valentine's together. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

FOOD : VALENTINES CUPCAKE TOPPERS

I'm enjoying Valentines a few days before hand, and kicking it off with cupcakes, which we will gladly eat later tonight. But needless to say, I took a stab at some simple cupcake toppers to pull off the whole look. I found these little post-its in the dollar section of Target (currently as of last weekend) and instantly thought they'd make the most perfect cupcake toppers. So with a few toothpicks, some extra tape, pink frosting and sprinkles here you have it. Of course I had to test a cupcake before hand too and boy were they yummy. Happy Humpy day sweet friends! :)

CREATIVE VALETINES IDEAS

Happy February! So how did this month sneak up on us. I know we had a lot going on in the month of January, but man it just flew right by. Are you ready for Valentines? It's still a week away, but if you're like me and trying to plan ahead, here were a few creative Valentines ideas that seemed simple enough to pull off yourself. Maybe not the cursive sewn letters but they are still cute non the less. Enjoy!
