ARTIST // NOEL SHIVELEY

.
There's no doubt that I really love hand lettering! I am do my fair share of doodling for personally projects, but by no means do I feel I can compare to some of the talent I see out there. Some people make it looks so natural an easy. Like this artist, Noel Shiveley is someone I'm inspired by. I have been following his work online for a bit and while writing this post I decided I should just start following his IG feed to keep up with it more, but would you look at this, Amazing! Not only do I love the lettering and his unique design style but I really love the quotes. I feel that quotes or uplifting words of inspiration really speaks to me, and these were among a few of his current pieces that I liked, but there are still so many more. Please link on over to see more of his work or you can also follow his IG feed at @Noeltheartist Happy mid-week sweet friends!

DIY : SHOWER CURTAIN TO WINDOW DRAPES

.
So for my kiddos mini room makeover I was working on a budget and with a black and white theme in mind. I hunted around a bit, but just couldn't find any curtains I liked to work with within the budget I had planned. Needless to say I wasn't about to give up. I spot a few shower curtains I loved, and I have converted shower curtains into drapes (an other things - a skirt, pillow cases, plush toys) a few times before, so I decide I'd do the same this time around. I found the curtains pictured below at Target on sale for 12.99 an knew instantly this was the one I would use. After taking window measurements, and precisely cutting my fabric, I was able to use one shower curtain to create two drapes. If you cut the curtain up the middle, an hem each open side, bend over each top piece to form a tub like opening for your curtain rod to slide thru and hem, you will make a total of 4 passes on your sewing machine with a straight stitch, and have yourself 2 new curtains. Good luck and happy sewing!

MUSIC : KSRA

.
So I hadn't heard of the Chicago based artist KSRA (aka - K Serra) till maybe a month or so ago on someone's IG feed. I instantly hunted my Soundcloud for more music by this singer, songwriter, producer. I feel that she's an up an coming artist, though not to many people have probably have even heard of her just yet, but her voice is beyond astounding! With killer vocals and a slight soul sound to her music she has a unique style all her own. Hope you enjoy her. Happy mid week!

WHERE'S THERE 9 : PRAIA DA CAMILO BEACH

.
I love the beach, the heat, the humidity, the sand, the taste of salt after you lick your lips, an especially the water and the smell of the sea. Being inland means not to many water options. But this rocky beach, well it looks beyond amazing. Maybe some day I'll be so fortunate to travel to beaches about the globe that looks like this one, but for now I'll admire them from afar and kick up my heels by the pool. Have you traveled to a beach you absolutely loved?

WHAT I WORE : RED DRESS + A LITTLE BLACK N' WHITE

.
Some days I'm sporadic, an today was one of those days. I knew I was going to be shooting an #ootd photo. So I texted one of my best friends, Sara, asked her if she was busy, told her to get dressed an ready, an then asked her to meet me in an hour plus bring her camera along for some lunch date fun. It was great seeing her, and nice change of pace for the both of us to get out of the groove of things for an hour and take silly photo's. An I especially like the Batman like "Pow" action going on down bottom, where she's kicking my butt... but not really... an don't worry no one was harmed in the making ;) Happy almost weekend!!!

SANDI DOODLES : LONG BRAID

.
I don't find myself doing complete pencil renderings to often. As forgiving as pencils can be, because of the erase factor, I prefer clear monotoned lines of pen and ink. All of my illustrations start with light pencil sketches which are then erased after the ink is applied but every now and again, I get in a groove of shading in an illustration an get a little crazy with my Number 2. An if you're on the current hunt for the perfect pencil, there are tons out there, but I really love this one pictured, the "Twist -Erase III" by Pentel 0.5mm (find it here) an let's just say I own a good handful of them. Enjoy and Happy Thursday!

MINI KIDS ROOM MAKEOVER

.
So my kiddos travel home for 4 weeks of each Summer to stay with their grandparents an visit both sides of their family. With them being gone for a bit this gave me the opportunity to try to plan a mini room makeover. I live in an apt, and I really hadn't decorated their room much before this point. There was a larger dresser which they shared on one wall, some artwork hanging on the wall above this, an their bunk beds on another wall near the windows, a chair tucked in a corner, and that was pretty much it. We have a basement which is where their toys are located so the room decor was very plain aka nada. Carpeting is just not my thing, an very uninspiring to me. The wall paint (tan) is blah, an I really am not up for painting in my apartment, and overall I just didn't know how to decorate this space for them... My room kinda faces the same dilemma currently (that's another story though). But needless to say, I set a bit of a higher budget, an took it upon myself while they were out of town to redo the room and move things all about to give them a more friendly space. I really wanted to stick to a black and white theme, though I wasn't up for painting furniture so this was a bit hard, so I tried to add these pops elsewhere like in the rug, wall art, bedding, and other decor. I knew I would be spending a bit more because I wanted to give them each their own dressers, and a floor rug for the space, hence why my total below seems a bit higher. But all in all, they were so happy to return home to their new little space, and it seems to be enjoyed today and played in a bit more now so, so it was all worth it! Thanks for peeking into a corner of our home.

FOOD : VEGGIE PANCAKES BY HY-VEE

.

Have you had veggie pancakes before? Well if not, this recipe was pretty simple to make and equally as tasty. If you're not to familiar with Hy-Vee it's a local grocery chain and last week we picked up a free catalog called "Seasons Hy-Vee" in store that contained food tips and tricks and summer recipe ideas. These Veggie Pancakes were being sampled in the store that day, and though I didn't try them just then (though the guy I date did and loved them) they seemed like they'd be a great little meal. We decided to add a few dollops of greek yogurt to ours when we made them. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
2 large green bell peppers
1 large carrot
1 (10 oz) zucchini
1 (10 oz) yellow summer squash
1/2 c. chopped green onions
1 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped*
3/4 c. Hy-Vee all-purpose flour
1/3 c. Hy-Vee freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp Hy-Vee baking powder
1/4 tsp Hy-Vee baking soda
3/4 tsp Hy-Vee salt
1/4 tsp Hy-Vee black pepper
3 Hy-Vee large eggs, lightly beaten
Hy-Vee vegetable oil, for frying

DIRECTIONS
Preheat broiler to roast bell peppers. Line a baking sheet with foil. Halve peppers lengthwise; remove stems, seeds and membranes. Place pepper halves, cut side down, on prepared baking sheet.Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until skins are blistered and dark. Carefully bring foil up and around peppers to enclose. Let stand about 15 minutes. Using a sharp knife, peel peppers; cut lengthwise into strips. Set aside.

Meanwhile, using a food processor or coarse shredder, shred carrot, zucchini and squash; place in a medium bowl. Add green onions and jalapeno pepper. In a small bowl, combine flour, Parmesan cheese, baking powder, baking soda, salt and black pepper. Toss flour mixture into vegetables. Stir in eggs.

In a 10-inch skillet, heat 1/4 inch oil over medium-high heat. Drop three 1/4-cup mounds of mixture into hot oil; flatten to make 1/2-inch-thick pancakes. Fry until golden brown, turning once. Transfer to paper towel-lined plates to drain. Keep warm in a 200-degree oven until serving time. Repeat for remaining pancakes. Serve pancakes topped with roasted pepper strips.
