Kickstarter : Minimals Animals Puzzles. Shared on CreativelyCurated.com | Promote independent artist via Kickstarter.com #kickstarter #puzzles #trendy
So who enjoys hunting Kickstarter? This girl! But even more than myself, my guy does. He’s always on the look out for cool new items made by smaller independent artist. We enjoy sharing new items that we’ve found, an get super excited over products that really wow us. Like the “Minimals” which I’m sharing here today. An yes, they made the “we want to own this, heck yes we’ll back it” list. We are hoping they reach their pledge, so these trendy yet interactive puzzles become a reality. How cool are they? Really cool, right!? To see more images, read the history, an watch a cool little video, click on over to Kickstarter to show your support. Do you enjoy Kickstarter? Maybe you even have your own Kickstarter you are campaigning that you’d care to link below. Happy Wednesday!

TRENDING TUESDAYS : WOODEN TOYS

.
TRENDING TUESDAYS : WOODEN TOYS | Shared on CreativelyCurated.com #wooden #toys #CreativelyCurated

Wooden toys. Something about the material of wood fascinates me. The organic quality and the lines of the wood showing age an wear. Beyond the traditional wooden toy blocks (an yes I've included some blocks above too) there are so many new wooden objects out there for either play or personal display. Here's a few I've spotted and love. We own a handful of number 5, an each of us has a different color we personally love. Do you own any wood toys you fancy?

TRENDING TUESDAYS : ADVENT CALENDARS

.
Trending Tuesdays : Advent Calendars || Shared on CreativelyCurated.com #creativelycurated

So occasionally, on Tuesdays, I thought I would take a stab at sharing a few things I have seen lately, an I enjoy. Be it a few different trendy DIY's or maybe something more holiday/seasonally appropriate, but needless to say, today's grouping is that of Advent Calendars. We have a few (3 lego advents + one candy advent) set up in our home this year but I love these takes on an advent. The handmade feel, an paper craft is just more personal to heart. After seeing such inspiration, I think next year I'll be rethinking ours a little calendar to make it a bit more special. Do you do a daily advent leading up to Christmas? What's it look like? If you have a photo of something creative you do or care to share link it below in the comments for us to see.

THESE TWO...

.
These two are quite the characters. An most days they are the best of friends. Like all kids they have their moments, an disagree about things, don't we all, but non the less they make me so incredibly happy that I can't imagine my life before them. They're silly smiling faces, and the way the feed off each other at times, is pure entertainment to sit back and watch. Today we are celebrating their birthdays with a trip to the Omaha Zoo. Wish us luck, and as long as we all survive a few hours in the car together, it should be a great day! I'm not to sure where the times gone, and how they grew up so quickly on me, but I'm enjoying these days with my motley little crew more than ever. Happy weekend sweet friends!

DIY : BLACK AND GOLD BALLOON WEIGHTS

.
So I made these super simple animals balloon weights for a birthday that just past. I had a theme of gold and black going on, you can see the cupcake toppers here that also were for the party, but I really like how these animals came out, especially the hippo which was my favorite! I hunted down dollar animals (the lion and tiger were at Walmart, and the hippo was found at Michael's) and then took it upon myself, along side a few cans of spray paint to turn them into something more appropriate for the party. I taped off the animals creating patterning using (don't laugh) SaranWrap and wash tapes. I used the plastic wrap to cover larger areas so I wasn't wasting all my tape in the process, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Overall they took me a few hours between drying and taping but it was well worth the efforts. They would be a great quick addition for a party or maybe even for basic home decor. Then I tied each animal to a balloon and finished them off with the little hand lettered tags below, which each animal sat with a tag resting against it's mouth (kinda like it was eating them), I know I'm a huge geek, but all in all it looked cute non the less. Enjoy!

DIY MAKESHIFT CLOSET IDEA

.

Over the Christmas holiday my daughter received a large collection of princess dresses, shoes, tiara's and other accessories. I love that she's wanting to dress herself and wanting to be unique with her style, I totally promote that, but I don't support, is the piles of tossed about stuff after she's done playign and moved on to something else... Up until now I had yet to find a good solution to store all of these pieces. But after I did a bit of digging about, I came across a few of these makeshift moveable closets which I'm thinking would prove itself beneficial for her situation. Something shorter, child size for her to access, that can house all items neatly in once place. I'm gathering info and size measurements to try my hand at building something similar. I'm not much of a builder, so wish me luck. Any projects on yrou weekend agenda? :)

DIY : A LITTLE WELCOME HOME PENDANT

.
I love how little hanging pendant looks. I also have a soft spot for bakers twine and I keep trying my best to figure out ways to incorporate it into every project I do. You can see I snuck it into the holiday gifts this year over here. The pendant though, a couple holidays ago I made a very simple DIY pendant (aka bunting) which you can view those instructions here. I have been seeing this very special guy who was away for a very long holiday break, and though I didn't want to go over the top on his arrival back home, I wanted to make it known that he was surely missed a great deal. Handmade gifts always seem more personal to me so I knew I wanted a little welcome home something or another and this pendant seemed like the perfect project to me... and it made him smile, an was very appreciated, so extra bonus point foe me, woohoo! If you decided to use my tutorial to make your own pendant, I'd love to see it, so link me in the comment section below. Happy crafting.

SOLEIL SUN UTOPIA ORNAMENT BY JONATHAN ADLER

.
I will probably mention him one to many times (an yes I included him in my holiday wish list too) because I love his design and stylized look to his work, but this Jonathan Alder ornament was a must have this year. I really don't splurge on gifts for myself, an especially around the holiday time. Things that aren't thrifted, or do I dare say... cheaper, I push aside...I really may want it and ponder over it for a bit, but usually pass on a bit... All in all, this ornament, well it caught my attention and since I had been wanting a piece by Jonathan Adler for quite some time, this one was a perfect add. I think I'll leave it out year round because it really doesn't scream holiday specifically. It also may now be one of my new favorite ornaments ever. The Utopia series, which this sun falls into, has the most wonderfully sculpted faces on not only ornaments but mugs, vases and more. You may check out more of his work thru the links below. Enjoy and Happy Friday! :)

2013 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

.

I love the holidays. Especially the fact that I love giving gifts, an I'm probably one of the only weirdo's out there who get's excited about wrapping gifts too. I love packaging things and making a gift look all pretty an special. If I could included gift wrapper on my resume, I surely would, but that may seem odd to others I'm sure... But with that in mind I've always had a hard time being on the other end of the spectrum, the recipient. Don't get me wrong, I love gifts, but I'm not the type who has ever wrote a list or asked for specific things for that matter. Though I'm uncomfortable an feel greedy if I reply, I was recently asked, show me things you love. Which is an easier concept for me. So if you knew me well, you'd know it would look a little like this (above). Enjoy and happy new week ahead!
