Did you realize Christmas is 5 days away, FIVE!! Ahhh, I can count that on one hand, crazy, right?! But needless to say, it's time to wrap gifts, and get all the last minute details in order for the big day. I have a tough time finding gift tags that I love, so I usually make my own and thought I'd make a few extra. Feel free to download (link down bottom below), print and cut out these yourself. They are approx. 2 x 3.5 which is business card size. If you need to make them smaller or bigger you should be able to adjust the setting on your own printer.  Enjoy and happy decorating.

GIVE THANKS - HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Today, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, it's a reminder of all that I have been blessed with. Beyond anything I am so thankful for my kiddos, Wyeth and Penelope. They make every day an adventure and I can't even imagine how my life was before these two special people. I'm so proud to be called a mom because of them and I am so happy of our little family. For my boyfriend Josh, who is an amazing guy. I love him so much and his love for me and my kiddos is beyond anything I could have imagined. I am thankful for my family, my parents, my brothers, cousins and other relatives both near and far. For my kiddos dad Ben and his family, who play an important part in my kids life. I am thankful for being able to draw and create with my hands, and for the other talents I have been blessed with. For clean water, food in our bellies, a home over our head, my job, my health an so much more. There is so much to be thankful for, what is something you are thankful for this holiday season?

#SANDIDOODLES / FLOWERS ARE ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA

I've been working on exploring my own hand lettering. An though, by no means, am I a professional calligrapher, I still like to dabble in the arts of lettering. I see it as a challenge, and personally for me, it's another form of illustration, which is what my background is in. It's shapes, lines, thick and thin markings, all things make up a completed illustration. I like using pens, though they can be a bit scary an unforgiving some, this way I can't erase errors an have to force myself to continue practicing. I go through a bit of paper this way, but it's worth the continued efforts. I've found picking words or quotes is a good place to start so like others I've done this was a recent one from a few nights prior. SANDI DOODLES : DON'T FORGET TO LOVE YOURSELF

Self love… So do you love yourself?

I'll admit it, I struggle with this… I love my kids, my family, my friends, my boyfriend, an others in my life. I put everyone before me. I work hard to make sure their happiness and well being is my top priority. I've always been like this. I've always overlooked myself as a person to love and care for. Why? Maybe because I had this grand idea that someone else would do it for me, but who? Sadly no one but me... So with the hustle of everyday life at hand, with in mind of all that it will continue to be tossed our way, I've doodled this visual reminder so hopefully I will take time and try not forget to love me. And you out there, "Don't forget to love yourself" too. Happy Tuesday dear friends.

DIY : BLACK AND GOLD BALLOON WEIGHTS

So I made these super simple animals balloon weights for a birthday that just past. I had a theme of gold and black going on, you can see the cupcake toppers here that also were for the party, but I really like how these animals came out, especially the hippo which was my favorite! I hunted down dollar animals (the lion and tiger were at Walmart, and the hippo was found at Michael's) and then took it upon myself, along side a few cans of spray paint to turn them into something more appropriate for the party. I taped off the animals creating patterning using (don't laugh) SaranWrap and wash tapes. I used the plastic wrap to cover larger areas so I wasn't wasting all my tape in the process, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Overall they took me a few hours between drying and taping but it was well worth the efforts. They would be a great quick addition for a party or maybe even for basic home decor. Then I tied each animal to a balloon and finished them off with the little hand lettered tags below, which each animal sat with a tag resting against it's mouth (kinda like it was eating them), I know I'm a huge geek, but all in all it looked cute non the less. Enjoy!

SANDI DOODLES : ALLOW YOURSELF TO LET GO

Sometimes it's not an easy choice to let things go and move onward, you may not know what lies ahead of you, you may be comfortable with the way things are, but sometimes letting go to move on can be more rewarding in the grad scheme of things. An as I go thru life these days, I remind myself this. I have been parting with a few items to downsize the amount of stuff we live with because we don't need it all… And though it's hard to part with old things, especially those things that remind me of my past and where I've been and where I am now. It's just stuff... and there will always be more stuff. But a reminder to myself to "allow yourself to let go" because in the end it will be better off…

Holy cow, so how did the end of the year already arrive, is it really that possible? This year has been a whirl wind of events for sure and I am excited to say hello to 2014, but also sad to say goodbye to 2013... All in all the new year will be a fresh start. I have a few personal resolutions I'm going to be working hard to achieve.
